You’ll Get a Little Slice of England at This Fun Rural TN Ag Co-Op
I have to admit to cracking myself up about the headline of this story. I covered up the last part of it with my thumb, leaving only "You'll Get a Big Slice of England". When you uncover the rest, it just seems like a big non-sequitur.
So, how on Earth could an agricultural co-op a half-hour away from the hustle and bustle of Nashville make you feel like you're in rural England? Wellll, that IS the nature of the co-op...a group pooling their resources for the financial enrichment of all involved. There really are no rule for what you must come up with.
The Land -- Kingston TN
When you visit The Land in Kingston TN, you will see the definition of a co-op in action. This wonderful operation has brought together a native plant nursery (Simple Joy), a forest "school" (The Treehouse), rock wall builders (Old England Rock Walls), a garden gift shop (Wonder Gift and Garden), and an authentic British deli (The Yorkshire Deli).
A Little Bit of England in Central Tennessee
They are unique businesses, but they are the components of a sneaky popular attraction in a state loaded with attractions that aren't sneaky at all. These merchants compete with all of them. And that Yorkshire Deli? I cannot wait to get there; plans are in the works as I write. I've visited English style pubs in this country--all in large cities--but I've never had an opportunity for high tea and some scrumptious looking delicacies in the middle of rural Tennessee.
By the way, I'm taking this opportunity to fully endorse Scotch eggs which our XPLR Nash host thoroughly enjoyed. I know how he feels; I was introduced to hard-boiled eggs rolled in ground sausage, then deep-fried at one of those aforementioned pubs, this one in Minneapolis.
I'm sure they'll be just as amazing out in the Tennessee countryside.
