Ice remains a significant hazard on roads due to packed snow. Additionally, ice accumulations have caused trees and power lines to fall, further complicating conditions. Drive carefully and remain cautious throughout your travels.

In several areas around Western Kentucky, traffic signals are currently out of service due to power outages. Please approach these intersections cautiously, treat them as four-way stops, and be mindful of other drivers and pedestrians. Stay alert and prioritize safety while navigating these areas.

WARMING SHELTERS

Warming stations are available throughout Western Kentucky whenever white flag criteria are met. These stations provide a safe and warm refuge for individuals in need during extreme cold weather conditions. Be sure to check local updates for the nearest warming station, and take advantage of these resources if you or someone you know is affected by the cold.

In Daviess County, a White Flag event signals the opening of an overnight emergency shelter that will be open to all men, women, and children.

Hours of Operation: 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 A.M. unless beds are available at another shelter.

Transportation Options:

Monday-Friday: On WHITE FLAG nights between 4-6 pm, Owensboro Transit System will provide free bus transportation to Daniel Pitino's shelter. **Inform the bus driver you are going to the White Flag shelter. **

These locations often open their doors during extreme weather to provide warmth and safety for those in need.
