We have certainly been very spoiled with the weather this fall. Gorgeous sunny days with highs in the 70s and 80s. Nice and breezy until dipping down into perfectly chilly evenings for bonfires and roasting s'mores.

Luckily, Mother Nature has cooperated for a plethora of Trunk-or-treat events around town. With huge turnouts for the City of Owensboro's Trail of Treats in Smother's Park and Halloween Hullabaloo at Yellow Creek Park last week, hopefully, you were there with your kiddos raking in the candy.

If you are planning to trick or treat on Halloween night, you'll want to purchase a poncho or pivot costume ideas for characters who wear rain jackets. Maybe dress up as a fly fisherman with waterproof gear. Or a weatherman and wear an umbrella hat! A couple of years ago, my son went as a character from the TV show All That, Pierre Escargot. He wore a rain hat and jacket in a "bathtub" and taught kids hilarious French phrases.

As of now, there is an approximately 50% chance of rain for Halloween. When we talked with Ron Rhodes for his Eyewitness News weather forecast, he sounded pretty confident that we are in for a soggy spooky day. According to the Ohio Valley Weather Watch, it ain't looking good. Here's the Halloween Outlook Forecaster Tony shared on their Facebook page:

Halloween is still looking to be a wet day for Trick-or-treating across the lower Ohio Valley. Showers will be likely and maybe some thunderstorms. At this time, we are not expecting anything severe, as instability is still looking rather weak and would serve as the limiting factor for any severe storms. It will be a windy week as well, with winds gusting as high as 25-30 mph at times through Thursday. It currently looks like the higher wind gusts of 40-50 mph will stay out over the Central Plains. As for Halloween, still holding out some hope the kiddos to get that trick-or-treating in.
Rainfall totals (shown in the graphic) currently look to be right around an inch or so.

Well, let's just cross our fingers and toes that the rain will stay away and we can enjoy an evening of ghosts and goblins and fill our buckets with lots of goodies.
