This Kentucky Bourbon Was Named 2024 Best in the World
For Kentuckians and bourbon aficionados, the fact that a Kentucky bourbon has won the title of best bourbon in the world for 2024 should not come as a surprise.
American Distilling Institute
The American Distilling Institute is a trade association for craft distilling. Founded in 2003 it is the oldest and largest in the world. Here is their mission, "To promote and defend the art and enterprise of craft distilling. Through our programs of economic development, academic research and education, ADI generates greater public awareness and appreciation for the quality and variety of artisan spirits and brings greater benefits to the larger society in which we live."
ADI International Spirits Competition
They also host a variety of events and competitions for distillers across the globe. The International Spirits Competitions awards many different categories of spirits with "Best of" titles for things like packaging, type of spirit, ready to drink and specialty liqueurs. There is also an overall winner for the best of the best.
The ISC Best of Class Bourbon 2024
That winner of the world's best bourbon just so happens to be produced right here by the Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky. It is...drumroll please...
Larceny, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Proof A124, No Age Statement, 62.1% ABV, 750 ml.
Here is the delicious description, "Larceny Barrel Proof offers a new opportunity to experience our acclaimed wheated Bourbon mashbill in its purest form: non-chill filtered and bottled at full barrel proof. Released three times per year in January, May, and September, each offering is a bold yet balanced special Small Batch Bourbon rich with depth and distinction. Much like Larceny Small Batch and Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond, Larceny Barrel Proof is a welcome reminder of just how good wheated Bourbons can be."
Have you ever tried this bourbon? I haven't but I plan on adding it to my "to-do list."
