Here Are the Official 2025 Owensboro Times Pizza Week Winners
It's been a glorious week and a half in the Owensboro area. We've all had an excuse to eat pizza for dinner every night! Our friends at Owensboro Times have hosted a delicious, friendly competition where, let's be honest, everyone wins.
The Inaugural Owensboro Times Pizza Week
Twenty-eight local restaurants, food trucks, and bakeries offered up creative and tasty pizza-inspired dishes that you couldn't normally find on the menu. Although after huge success, I bet some of these pies either find a permanent spot for folks to enjoy again or make a comeback as a special.
Owensboro Pizza Week Photos, Videos, Reviews, and More
You can check out live taste tests on the WBKR Facebook page, and find tons of behind-the-scenes videos and stories on the Owensboro Times Facebook page or by searching the hashtag #OTpizzaweek. Some people who were able to try all of the pizzas say there wasn't a single dud in the bunch.
Owensboro Times Pizza Week Awards
Although the point of this 10-day food fest was to support local business owners (and treat our taste buds), there was some hardware up for grabs!
- The Supreme (selected through a blind tasting by a panel of foodies, chefs, and more)
- The People's Slice (best traditional pizza, chosen by community vote)
- Outside the Pizza Box Award (most creative non-traditional entry, chosen by community vote)
- The Dough$ Maker Award (highest sales during Pizza Week)

The Dough$ Maker Award (Non-Traditional Pizza)
Beef O'Brady's wins this trophy as the participating restaurant raking in the most dough for their non-traditional entry. Pizza Dipper perfection! You can read more about their Pizza Week experience here.
The Dough$ Maker Award (Traditional Pizza)
Donatos wins this trophy as the participating restaurant raking in the most dough for their traditional pizza entry, the Triple Triple Double. They sold more pizzas than any other during the contest.
The People's Slice
Donato's has also won the People's Choice Award for the best traditional pizza. The community's favorite. It tingled every taste bud, sweet, salty, sour, a little heat...mmmm. Adventurous, but still a crowd-pleaser. Learn about their "Pizza Swap" and how much the community support means to them here.
Outside the Pizza Box Award
This coveted award for favorite non-traditional entry was also chosen by the people. Pizza lovers with a sweet tooth who savored Doozie Doez's spin on a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Baker Hanna Bailey shares how she came up with the ingenious idea here.
The Supreme
This top award goes to the pizza that received the highest score from the official panel of 15 judges. Local business owners, foodies, and pizza "experts" who painstakingly tasted every entry. Scoring categories included presentation, taste, technique, distribution of toppings, and creativity.
Niko's Bakery & Cafe's Sicilian masterpiece wins this prize. They'll be able to set The Supreme trophy on the shelf next to the 2025 Owensboro Burger Week trophy they snagged earlier this year. With fresh ingredients, local collaborations, and a focaccia crust, Chef Matt Weafer shares the secret to success here.
The winners of the coloring contest, the mascot naming contest, and the Pizza Passport challenge will be contacted at a later date. We hope you had fun with your friends, families, or co-workers during Owensboro Times Pizza Week! It's always awesome to see the community come together to show our small businesses lots of love. Let's keep it up!
