Shaylee Leonard of Owensboro is about to check another item off her pageant bucket list. Today, she's leaving town for Bowling Green to compete in the Miss Kentucky Teen Pageant.

Shaylee is the reigning Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair. When she won last October, she made history for the county she represented.

This week, she's hoping to keep that title streak alive. The Miss Kentucky Scholarship Organization is staging its 2024 Miss Kentucky and Miss Kentucky's Teen competitions at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center in Bowling Green. Shaylee qualified for and earned entry into the pageant by winning the title Miss Heart of the Commonwealth's Teen.

Shaylee is going to have a very busy week in Bowling Green. Her mother Laura says that Wednesday is Preliminary Night #1. That's when Shaylee will compete in the evening gown and fitness categories. Thursday is Preliminary Night #2 and that's when Shaylee and her fellow contestants will be participating in the talent and onstage conversation portion.

By the way, Shaylee will be showing off her clogging skills for the talent competition. She has been taking lessons and training at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum with local clogging expert Barry Lanham.

Friday night is the final! The Top 12 contestants from the prelims will advance and compete again in each category. By the end of the night, we'll have a brand new Miss Kentucky's Teen. Then, Saturday night, we'll find out who will be crowned the 2024 Miss Kentucky.
