Owensboro, KY Restaurant Nourishes Nonprofit Heroes With ‘Bunches Of Lunches’

It's back for a third consecutive year! Windy Hollow Biscuit House in Owensboro, KY is again teaming up with Townsquare Media to celebrate nonprofits throughout the area. The program is called 'Bunches of Lunches' and that's exactly what it is. Once a month, we choose a couple of area nonprofits and feed their staffs and volunteers.

'Bunches of Lunches' is the brainchild of Evelyn "Rooster" Miller, owner and operator of Windy Hollow. Back in early 2023, she and her daughter Hallie approached The Country Station, 92.5 WBKR with a fun (and tasty) idea. The dynamic mother-daughter duo wanted to do something to give back to local nonprofits.

Of course, that 'something' turned out to be what they do best. Food!

Rooster has decades of restaurant and nonprofit experience. She spent years working as the Executive Director of the American Red Cross here in the Tristate. She also worked for the American Red Cross in Florida.  She knows the hard work required to run and sustain a nonprofit. She fully understands the amount of time and heart the employees put into their jobs and the commitment to community those jobs require. So, Rooster and Hallie 'cooked' up a way to honor them.

Thus, Bunches of Lunches was born and, over the course of the last two years, we have been able to feed volunteers and staffs from some incredible local nonprofits like: St. Benedict's, SPARKY (Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky), New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services, the Senior Community Center, HealthFirst, the Macedonia Baptist Church Quilting Ministry, the Goodfellows Club of Owensboro and many more.

2025's Bunches of Lunches officially kicks off in February and we're inviting nonprofits in the area to sign up to win FREE lunch. If you are selected as one of our monthly winners, we're going to feed up to 12 of your staffers and volunteers in the banquet room at the Windy Hollow Biscuit House!  We'll host a minimum of TWO nonprofits per month.
