Since I was a teenager, I have loved countdowns. You should have seen me back in the day, listening intently to the Casey Kasem Top 40 Countdown, writing down where every song was on the chart. And then I discovered Billboard, the industry magazine from which all those songs came.

I still love them and always look forward to the Big BKR Smackdown which began in 2011. And we couldn't do it without your votes. We count them down tournament-style, pairing up 64 songs in 32 groups. The song with the most votes advances to the next round. It's a blast.

Here are the top 12 songs of 2024 based on your votes:

12. "This Is My Dirt" - Justin Moore

11. "4x4xU" - Lainey Wilson

10. "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" - Lainey Wilson

9. "Lies, Lies, Lies" - Morgan Wallen

8. "Love Somebody" - Morgan Wallen

Thanks again for all the votes. You guys were with us literally from sun-up until sundown. In case you were wondering, I've already started next year's list. The wheel never stops moving.

Happy New Year.

15 Country Artists Primed to Headline a Super Bowl Halftime Show

Any way you slice it, country music is long overdue for its time in the spotlight at the Super Bowl. Although several artists have sung the National Anthem at the game, the coveted halftime show has been anything but country for over three decades.

The last time anyone from the genre headlined the performance was in 1994, when Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Wynonna Judd and Naomi Judd did a medley of their biggest hits. With country music gaining in popularity, there's no better time than now to put one of our own in the spotlight. Here are 15 artists who are already primed to take on the task.
