This Popular TikTok Prank Could Cost Illinois Residents $25,000

Before you try the "One Twelve" prank that has gone viral on TikTok, be aware that it could land you, or someone else, a fine of up to $25,000!

I'm a big fan of a harmless prank, meaning a prank that makes someone else look or feel like an idiot but does not cause any bodily harm.

Giving prank gifts is one of my favorite things to do each holiday season, and right now I'm busy working on something special for one of my beloved family members. <insert evil laugh here>.

Pranking others may be fun for some, but I think we all need to draw the line at pranks that may land people fines of several thousand dollars!

Fine for Prank Calling in Illinois

Prank calls walk a fine line in Illinois. If you do it only once to a random number, it's just annoying, but if you prank call the same phone number numerous times it could be labeled harassment and land you behind bars.

Prank calling 911 is a whole different story in Illinois. In Illinois;

a person found guilty of making a false 911 call will face a Class 4 felony for the first violation as well as subsequent violations. A Class 4 felony is punishable by one to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.

This iPhone feature is definitely something good to have in the case of a real emergency, but if you don't want to fall victim to someone else's costly prank, you might want to deactivate Siri...just for a little while.
