Evansville Officer’s Small Gesture Is a Big Reminder of Human Kindness
It wasn’t part of a patrol. There were no flashing lights. No official call for help. Just one man who decided to be the kind of human we all hope to run into on a hard day.
A Moment That Might Have Gone Unnoticed—But Didn’t
A Facebook post shared by Laura Roblero, shows a photograph of an officer with the Evansville Police Department who can be seen holding the hand of an elderly woman. In the caption, Laura shares the story of what she captured in the photo.
EPD Officer Rundle had been driving his personal vehicle through downtown Evansville when he spotted a woman standing at a crosswalk. Rather than just passing by, Officer Rundle pulled over, hopped out of his car, walked up to her… and took her hand.

Officer Rundle Shows What It Means to Serve—Even Off Duty
He then walked her safely across the street, hand in hand, out of traffic’s path, and onto the rest of her day. Roblero happened to be nearby and watched it all unfold, and she snapped the photo below before sharing the moment on social media.
I hope he doesn't mind. I've got to give a shout out to Officer Rundle. I witnessed him pull over, get out of his personal vehicle, grab this elderly lady's hand, and help her safely cross the street and out of traffic’s way. Your kindness and heart to serve does not go unnoticed.
A Powerful Reminder That Good Still Exists
It can sometimes seem like a lot is going wrong in the world. We are inundated with it on a daily basis, and it can leave a person questioning the state of humanity. But gestures like this? A quiet, everyday kindness not done for likes or views, but simply because it was the right thing to do, even if no one was watching.
Character is how you treat people who can't do anything for you in return. Integrity is how you act when you think nobody is looking. - Thea Nishimori
Kindness Doesn’t Need an Audience—Just Intention
Shout-out to EPD Officer Rundle for an exceptional display of character and integrity.
