With so much going on in the world right now, you likely have some pretty strong feelings. It's also likely that you would like to share those feelings with your state representatives, but maybe you don't know how. I'm going to share some easy ways to get in touch.

The current state of our nation has many of us shaking our heads in disbelief as we watch everything unfold right in front of our eyes day after day. It may even have you wondering what the heck our state politicians are thinking.

The reality is that our state legislators are employees paid by our tax dollars, and their job is to act in accordance with the wishes and best interests of their constituents. Unfortunately, that hasn't seemed to be the case in recent months.

Of course, if they don't know what their constituents want, how can we expect them to work for us rather than against us? That's why it is so important to contact our representatives to share our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs with them.

There are a number of ways that you can contact your legislators here in Indiana. First, you can visit the website for the Indiana General Assembly. Here you can fill in your address and it will give you a list of your representatives along with phone numbers to their offices and addresses for mailing letters. (Pro tip: You can click on their name and photo to see a list of bills that they have authored and sponsored.)

Another way to contact your legislators is using the free app 5 Calls. It is a 501 c 3 non-profit funded by donations to help constituents' voices be heard. In addition to helping you identify your respective legislators based on where you live, 5 Calls even provides sample scripts for important topics to help you know what to say when you call.

Resist.bot is another useful tool for contacting your legislators. Using Resist.bot allows you to send emails to your legislators for free with just a few text prompts to get you started. It's also free, but donations are accepted. Additionally, the site can send faxes and postal mail for a small contribution.

Whatever the issues are that you're passionate about, and whatever method you use to contact your legislators, use your voice and let them know how you feel. It is more important than ever before.
