Auditions Are Happening in July to Work at an Infamous Haunted House in Kentucky
It's never too early to start thinking about Halloween, and auditions are happening in July and August to work at one of the most haunted places in the country.
Kentucky's Infamous Waverly Hills Sanatorium
I remember when I was in high school and first heard about Waverly Hills, I was instantly hooked. My cousin was going to do an overnight tour there with some friends, so to prepare, we obviously had to watch every documentary and paranormal show we could find. I still remember watching the Ghost Hunters episode where they investigated Waverly Hills. Ever since then, I've been hooked on learning as much as I can about this old spooky building that holds a ton of history.
Why is Waverly Hills Known For Being Haunted?
If you don't know about Waverly Hills Sanatorium, I'll catch you up to speed with a super quick Reader's Digest version of the story behind this menacing building. Waverly Hills is known for being haunted and a "hotbed" for paranormal activity. Part of the reason for this reputation stems from Waverly's history.
The numbers vary, but it's said that thousands died at Waverly Hills Sanatorium as it was originally a tuberculosis hospital. After the tuberculosis epidemic was over, it was turned into a geriatric medical facility. In 1981, Waverly Hills closed its doors. Now it is run by the Waverly Hills Historical Society, which works to raise money to preserve the historic building.
Each year, they host a huge fundraiser where they put on a haunted house attraction inside Waverly Hills, and this year, you could be a part of the haunt.
Become a Scare Actor for Waverly Hills' Annual Haunted House
Waverly Hills Sanatorium took to Facebook to announce that they are hosting auditions for the haunted house this year! The post said that the first round of auditions for Waverly Hills' seasonal haunted house will take place on July 12th from 12 PM to 3 PM. There will then be a second round of auditions on August 2nd from 12 PM to 3 PM as well.
