The City of Henderson, Kentucky has grown tremendously over the years and brought a number of new businesses, restaurants, and events to its downtown area that draw residents from all around the area. But, there is one thing missing that residents have been asking for — a place where they can take their four-legged family members to run and play with other dogs. Soon, that dream will become a reality.

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce's Downtown Committee (formerly the Downtown Henderson Partnership) announced on Facebook earlier this week that plans are underway for a new dog park to be built along the Henderson River Walk.

According to the announcement, construction on the park is set to begin sometime this Fall with the Committee saying it has committed the funds needed for the park's enclosure and the City of Henderson will handle any infrastructure requirements.

The Committee is currently looking for businesses and residents to help provide funds organizers will use to purchase and install park amenities like benches and play structures for the dogs. Sponsorship levels range from a $25,000 naming rights sponsorship on the high end which does exactly what it says, names the park after you and includes signs at the park with your name on them. If that's a bit more than you're willing to give, organizers are also offering personalized bricks for $100 each that will be engraved with your name, or someone else's name if you prefer (like an old pet who's no longer with you.), and installed at the park.

Bricks are available to buy now here.
