I have always deeply admired folks who step outside of their comfort zone and follow their dreams. This is exactly what one Kentucky family is doing, they are following their dreams and opening their very own ice creamery. My friend Reghan and her husband have often joked about opening an ice cream shop, and finally, they decided, what's stopping them? And the idea of Toad Hop Creamery started to become a reality.
I reached out to Reghan because I had to know more about this new business venture, and I've learned that Toad Hop is truly a labor of love.
I worked managing an ice cream store in college, and enjoyed it so much! My husband, Joshua and I always joked that we would start our own ice cream brand someday. After we had our second daughter, we started thinking more seriously about building a business and working for ourselves. At the end of last year we took the leap and started making it a reality.
Toad Hop Creamery
A brand new ice cream shop will soon open its doors in Owensboro, Kentucky. Toad Hop Creamery will appropriately open its doors on leap day this year, February 29th. located at 3500 Villa Point Ste 102 in Owensboro, Toad Hop is described as a "fresh and funky" ice cream shop, with an ode to traditional ice cream shops.

Toad Hop Creamery is a locally, family-owned business and a totally new brand. We are a modern ode to a traditional ice cream store, serving premium ice cream flavors in a fun and inviting atmosphere. We make all of our ice cream in-store daily with high-quality ingredients, creating a new flavor every week. We will consistently have vegan and dairy-free flavors available. Additionally, we will serve fresh, buttery waffle cones, waffle bowls and a variety of favorite candy and sundae toppings.
How Did Toad Hop get its name?
The business name, Toad Hop Creamery is inspired by a small area in West Terre Haute, Indiana, called “Toad Hop” by the locals. My family on Moms side has lived for over 6 generations. For me, “Toad Hop” evokes feelings of joy from visiting my grandparents there as a child. The name lends itself perfectly to our unique and playful brand.
