A staple for outdoor fun in Kentucky has announced its opening date for 2024, and we can't wait!

Summer will be here before you know it, and I am sure that you and your family will be looking for some fun things to do. When it comes to things to do in the summer in Kentucky, there are a lot of options. However, if you are looking for some fun (and relaxing) things to do, I think I have found the answer for you. Oh, and it's not too far from the Evansville area. It's called Awesome Lazy River, and it is just that...a lazy river that sounds awesome!

Awesome Lazy River

This lazy river adventure is located in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, which is right outside of Louisville. As the name implies, it is an awesome lazy river. While there, you will be able to spend the day floating along the Salt River in an inner tube, soaking in the sun, and sipping on a nice cold (nonalcoholic) beverage. It's the definition of a relaxing vacation!

The average trip down the river is about 2 hours. Awesome Lazy River rents out single, double, and typhoon floats. They also have floats for your coolers so that you can bring drinks and snacks along for the float. If you want to, you can even bring your own float too.

Awesome Lazy River Opening Weekend 2024

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 25th. That's the opening day of Awesome Lazy River. This year's season runs from May 25th through September 1st. Awesome Lazy River will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

I think that this is something that my family and I will have to add to our summer bucket list this year. A nice, relaxing day on the river sounds great. The kids will love it too! For more information on Awesome Lazy River, including pricing, you can visit their website by clicking here.

Select Wildlife You Could Encounter in Kentucky

With all the bear stories--and occasional bobcat stories--that are popping up, maybe it's time we take a look at some of the wildlife you could encounter within these Kentucky borders. Some are harmless and some you want NO part of, in my opinion.
