Weather Channel Predicted Illinois First Snow & It’s Not Far Away

I have no doubt that the meteorologists at The Weather Channel know what they're doing, but I'd like them to consider a recount. They've just predicted the first snow of the season in Illinois and it's sooner than you might think.

The Weather Channel used some science (and some guessing) to just issue their prediction for the first snowfall in different parts of the country. When they are talking about snow, they're not counting flakes flying in the air, but not sticking to the ground. They're talking about accumulating snow of at least .1 inches. That's not much, but at least it counts.

When does The Weather Channel believe Illinois will get its first snow?

They provide two dates. The earliest measurable snowfall in Illinois history is October 12, 2006, but that's not their prediction. They estimate that it will be November 16, 2024 as that is the average day for the first accumulating snowfall in Illinois.

For reference, this was the first snow last year which was around November 23 in central Illinois.

Will the Weather Channel be proven right? We won't have to wait long to find out. Their first day of snow prediction in Illinois is barely over a month away. Shiver.
