Illinois Truck Explosion Caught on Doorbell Video

The fact that the driver only received minor injuries is miraculous. A doorbell cam in Illinois just captured the moment a box truck exploded as it drove down the street. It appears to disintegrate into a million pieces.

According to Chicago Critter on Facebook, this just happened on Saturday morning, May 24, 2025 in a residential neighborhood in Addison, Illinois. It was (past tense for a reason) a Penske moving truck that just suddenly exploded as it drove by.

Why did the box truck explode?

Faulty propane tank is the reason given for the truck explosion. The report also says that the driver only suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Another minor miracle is no passerby or resident of that neighborhood was hurt either.

Was this an accident or something done on purpose?

The DuPage County Bomb Squad and ATF determined there was no foul play according to a report by The Daily Mail. The debris field stretched down 4 blocks of that Illinois street and several homes did receive damage. However, it could have been much worse.
