The Kentucky Wildcats proved they deserved to be the number one overall seed in this year's NCAA tournament with an impressive 81-66 thumping of fellow Kentuckians, the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

The game had Kentucky written all over it. Both teams are obviously from Kentucky and the game took place IN Kentucky. Specifically, the KFC YUM! Center in Louisville, home of UK's in-state rivals the Louisville Cardinals who advanced to the second round with a win over Davidson College Thursday.

The Wildcats went 33-2 this year and are the odds on favorites to win the whole thing this year after reaching the Final Four in last year's tournament. What makes this year's run so impressive is that fact that 10 of their 14 players are either sophmores or freshmen. Assuming they don't lose a ton of players to the NBA, they could be the favorites to win for the next few years.

Their next game takes place tomorrow night against the eighth seeded Iowa State at 7:15 Evansville time on CBS. A game I have them winning in all of my brackets. As I mentioned in my post about IU advancing to round 2, I filled out three brackets this year. Two of them have Kentucky making it to championship game winning it all in one and losing to North Carolina in the other. My third bracket has them losing to IU in the Sweet 16. Hey, I figured if it happened once, it could happen again. What do you think?
