29 people lost their lives in less than 24 hours, in mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

Saturday morning, you were probably rushing to get the weekend errands in. Rushing from the mall, Target, Walmart and the grocery. I'm sure the thought of being involved in a mass shooting didn't cross your mind. I know it didn't cross mine. I was standing in front of a Walmart, collecting school supplies, at the same time that people were being gunned down at a Walmart in Texas. This could happen anywhere, anytime...And that really sucks.

So what can we do to help? Give blood! The American Red Cross says there's always a need for blood, and when mass tragedies happen, that puts an even greater strain on the blood supply.

Give blood by 8/29 & get a $5 Gift Card by email, donated by Amazon!

If you've never donated blood before, here's what to expect.

  • Be in good general health and feeling well.
  • Be at least 17 years old in most states (16 years old with parental consent in some states).
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds. Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school donors.
  • Have not donated blood in the last 56 days.

Now, maybe you're like me, and you are not able to give blood. You can organize a blood drive at your workplace or church.

You can also make Online Donations.
