Fans Predict the Hip-Hop Songs That Will Rule Summer 2017
Though the calendar hasn't quite yet confirmed it, summer 2017 has unofficially arrived. And as the season gets started, Spotify has released their songs of the summer predictions list with big names like Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Future scoring high on the leader board. According to the streaming service, entries on their "Songs of Summer" list are chosen based on extensive trend analysis, chart performance, social media activity and activity on Spotify itself. This year's list consists of tracks like K. Dot's "DNA.," Future's "Mask Off" and Lil Uzi Vert's "XO Tour Lif3." And while these are all worthy contenders for adding the most musical heat to summer 2017, rap fans are also feeling plenty of new songs not mentioned on this list.
In hip-hop, you never know how much a song's hype can build by the end of the summer. There's plenty of sleepers and new loosies that have Billboard-charting potential this year. Now that Baton Rouge rapper Youngboy Never Broke Again is fresh out of jail, he's feeling pretty invincible, which is why he aptly titled his newest banger "Untouchable." Kyle, the West Coast's happiest rapper, has been working his Lil Yachty-assisted single "iSpy" for months now. The songs perfect for a beach day and has climbed as high as No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Speaking of Lil Yachty, the King of the Teens just dropped his official debut album, Teenage Emotions, and aside from the singles "Peek A Boo" and "X Men," his fandom is really feeling the track "Harley"—the song already has over 3 million streams on Spotify.
