Camila Cabello surprised us all with not one but two new songs today (September 5), when she released both "Shameless" and "Liar" off her highly anticipated sophomore album Romance.

To celebrate the new tracks, the pop star FaceTimed with Zane Lowe to discuss everything from new music to her relationship with Shawn Mendes. She even revealed how she's confided in her beau about feeling self conscious.

"I was telling him about when I was younger and I was on X factor and 15," she explained. "I would always be so goofy in interviews and I’d read 'she’s so annoying, she’s so this, she's so that,' and it was starting to change who I was all the time. I was so self conscious because I carried these voices in my head that weren’t mine. That was the moment when I was like, I can’t do this because this is gonna affect how I live in the world and interact with people in general. It affects my heart and what comes out of you there IS your career."

As for new music, "Shameless" and "Liar" aren't all we can expect in the coming weeks. "There is more coming," she divulged. "I’m gonna be releasing a lot of music in the next few weeks so that’ll be really fun."

"I really wanted this album to be more than just songs I put it out," she continued. "People are not so open about talking about love—not even just romantic, but honestly romantic love is the most insane feeling in the entire world and I wanted this album to take it back to even before in the '50s and '60s where it was these songs that would be called corny or cheesy now just being so open with your emotions and shouting from the rooftops that you’re in love and heartbroken and all these things that make you feel."

Romance may be a collection of songs, but it's so much more than that to Cabello. "It’s a whole journey of what I’ve lived in the past two years, since the day the last album was released, from then to now," she explained. "What makes me feel better is when i’m being truthful. I tell my mom, send me comments from people that aren’t ego hype—I don't want to hear that my brain doesn’t operate well. How can I be truthful and share my soul with another soul? I have to look at it like that, not like, oh I have so many people. I have to look at it if i’m just sharing it with one person. If you’re really communicating on a deep level it doesn’t matter if it’s one person or 50,000, and I think Twitter can be the opposite of that. It can put you in the mindset of, oh I have to compete with this person and that person.'"
