Man, that is some killer Atari product placement.

And overall, it’s a pretty killer trailer for Blade Runner 2049. Whether you think the idea of revisiting the Ridley Scott sci-fi classic is a good one or a terrible one, we can all agree that the end result looks absolutely gorgeous. That is what happens when you get Roger Deakins to shoot your movie. There are plenty of images that recall Scott’s original film, but there’s also bold stuff that looks totally different as well.

As for the story, well the trailer pointedly insists it still has many more pages left to reveal. We’ll see. Mostly, it looks like the movie is Ryan Gosling wandering around looking forlornly at books and robots and Harrison Ford (who might also be a robot, I suppose). Here is the official synopsis from Warner Bros.:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

In addition to Gosling and Ford, the cast also includes Edward James Olmos, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, and Jared Leto as Jared Leto (or “Wallace,” but come one). Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters on October 6, 2017.
