Turns out that while many people are taking part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funds for the ALS Foundation, there are some scammers out there taking advantage of the situation.

Apparently, there are criminals online who will take advantage of just about any opportunity to spam or phish your computer - even a viral charity fundraising movement. According to reports, this includes emails touting really great Ice Bucket or Cold Water Challenge videos. These are spam and may install spyware or data collecting malware to your device if opened. Keep your eyes out for these types of emails, and remember that it is better to be safe and not open unsolicited emails.
