Plans for a surprise 90th birthday party for my father-in-law were cancelled on Saturday.  Our family was a little bummed out about it but, everyone understood.

Before restaurants were ordered to close due to COVID-19, we had planned to get together at a local restaurant and celebrate the life of Doyle Baehl, 90 years young. We had family coming in from Indy including Brian who is the youngest son of Doyle and Mary.  Most of the family lives locally here in the area.

We had it all planned for Mike, my husband (the middle child) to pick up his mom and dad and bring them to the restaurant for the surprise party.  I was going to be there early with the rest of the family along with a 90th birthday cake and decorations.  But, again. It had to be cancelled.

Doyle and wife Mary have been married 62 years and have three children (Cathy, the oldest went to be with our Lord in 2011), nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

With God’s blessings and prayers, we hope we can have a celebration for Doyle at a later date. We’re so blessed to have him in our lives.  Mike and l wished him a Happy 90th Birthday Saturday by staying outside the house and singing through the window! And yes, we left the cake outside...but, not in the rain.  Mom Baehl did eventually get the cake left on the porch.  :)

(Here's the birthday boy at his 88th birthday celebration.)
