It should come as no surprise that reading is good for your brain. But did you know that the way you read activates different areas of the brain?

When you are reading for pleasure, you are stimulating different parts of your brain than when you are closely studying a text, according to a recent Stanford study. Actively reading text and thinking about the text while you are reading it really can exercise your brain.

So, to all my fellow bookworms out there, reading really is a form of exercise, one that benefits not only our minds, but also enriches our relationships and gives us a greater understanding of the world around us.
