Who Was Your Childhood Crush? – The Rob’s Radio Show Weighs In
When the word ‘heart throb’ comes up, we all have a certain celebrity from our childhood or teen years, that comes to mind.
I had a wide-range of celebrity crushes growing up. My adolescent and developmental years reflected the times… Winnie Cooper from “The Wonder Years,” DJ Tanner from “Full House,” Topanga Lawrence from “Boy Meets World,” and Nancy Kerrigan. I definitely grew up in the “Pamela Anderson era” when everyone was obsessed with her. She was OK, as was Jenny McCarthy and Tiffani Amber Thiessen from “Saved By the Bell” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.” Carmen Electra also was probably the hottest woman in the world at one point. However if I had to pick the ONE definitive celebrity crush, it would easily Ariel, Disney’s eponymous “Little Mermaid.”
I am so sad to admit that I really had a huge crush on the boys of New Kids on the Block, but in my defense, I was 11. I honestly don’t remember which one I liked best. It may have been Jonathon or it could have been Jordan… All I know is I had posters and other random stuff with their names and pictures on it. Thank goodness that social media didn’t exist when I was 11!!!
I definitely grew up during the boy band craze. When I was a kid, you were either team Backstreet Boys or team N’Sync – you had to pick one. I was team BSB. I had every album on hand for all our preteen sleepover needs. I don’t even know if they would be considered a ‘childhood’ crush – I still love them.
