Avicii's "Wake Me Up" currently sits at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, but did you know it's not Avicii you hear singing?

Avicii is a DJ from Sweden who is starting to gain a ton of steam here in the states thanks to the success of his latest song, but much like the Calvin Harris', Zedd's, and David Guetta's of the world, he only creates the beats, subcontracting the singing portion of the song to someone else.

Often times when DJ's do this, they grab someone with some name recognition, like David Guetta did with Rihanna, Usher, and Flo-Rida for example. In the case of "Wake Me Up", Avicii went with a lesser-known artist who has been on the music scene since the early 2000's.

The man in question is Aloe Blacc (pronounced "black"). A 34-year-old Los Angeles native who released his first album in 2005 as part of a two-man hip-hop group known as Emanon. His first solo album followed in 2006, with his second solo disc, Good Things following in 2010. His third solo album, Lift Your Spirit, is scheduled for release in early 2014.
