Typosquatting is when a crook or scammer registers misspelled domain names like “Faceboook” or “Goggle) hoping to steal traffic from those legitimate sites for nefarious purposes. Naked Security surveyed popular sites including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Microsoft and Apple. They found 1500 related registered websites including 50 related to cybercrime. As of March 2016, there are more than 1200 top level domains and 251 country codes.
