Warrick County School Corporation in Need of Substitute Bus Drivers
If you or someone you know is looking to pick up a little extra cash and still have time to get other things done during your day, life as school bus driver for the Warrick County School Corporation (WCSC) could be exactly what you're looking for!
According to the Manager of Transportation for the Corporation, Guy Gentry, in a post on the WCSC website, and included in a recent daily e-mail to parents (which is how it was brought to my attention), the Corporation is currently facing a "severe shortage" of drivers, and while they've been able to cover all their routes with the current staff, there have been cases where they had to "double up" on a few of their runs.
The going rate for drivers is "$63.80 per day", and jumps to the "standard pay of $72.28" per day and after 14 consecutive days, with a typical day consisting of a morning and an afternoon run totaling between three to four hours a day.
Training is required. After all, they're not just going to hand you the keys to a bus full of school kids, pat you on the back, and say, "Go get 'em Tiger!" The Corporation will make sure you have the training you need, at no cost to you, with classes at the Transportation Department's garage on Yankeetown Road in Boonville. After four weeks of training, you'll head to Vincennes for your driving test. Additional skills training will be necessary after successfully completing your driving test, as will additional driving and observation hours.
A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or Standard Certificate (Yellow Card) is required, or you must be willing to obtain either at your own cost.
