I love the game of golf. As frustrating as it can be sometimes (OK, most of the time), it's a great way to spend the day outdoors with friends and/or family. It's even better when it gives you the opportunity to help out a great cause like the Vanderburgh Humane Society.

The 2012 Canine Classic golf scramble takes place Friday, June 15th at Cambridge Golf Course just off Highway 41 North in northern Vanderburgh County and they are in desperate need of golfers! So take the day off, call in sick, fake your own death, or whatever you need to do and get three of your friends together to help out all the little kitty-cats and puppy-dogs who are looking for a good home.

Registration is $75 for individuals or $320 per foursome. Registration includes 18 holes of golf and one of the more picturesque and challenging courses in the tri-state (in my opinion anyway), lunch, contests, and a gift bag for each player. $75 or $320 seem a bit steep? Try sweet-talking your boss into covering the cost. Remember to throw in that it's a tax write-off...that may make their decision easier.

If you're feeling really bold, see if your company would be willing to fork over the cash to be a hole sponsor. $400 will not only get your business a hole sponsorship, but also cover the cost of  hole sponsorship. $125 will get you a hole sponsorship only, while $1,000 will get your business a cart sponsorship.

The event begins with lunch at 11:30 and a shotgun start at 1pm.

Money raised from the scramble will help the Vanderburgh Humane Society continue the their mission of eliminating pet-overpopulation in our community, the prevention of animal cruelty and neglect, and the promotion of the human-animal bond. A mission they've been carrying out for over 50 years.
