Trevor Noah plans on making some big changes to The Daily Show as part of his upcoming hosting gig. And while he hopes the show will maintain the same satirical tone as Jon Stewart's version, Noah realizes that because he's coming to the show with a different perspective, it's only natural things will play out differently on screen.

Perhaps the most surprising change the show will offer is that Fox News will no longer be The Daily Show's main target of ridicule. Because the modern day news cycle is so varied, Noah wants the show to reflect that in an attempt to better encapsulate the way we consume media.

Noah said (via TIME): "The Daily Show was based on an emerging 24 hour news cycle, that’s everything it was. That’s what inspired The Daily Show. Now you look at news and it’s changed. It’s no longer predicated around 24 hour news. There are so many different choices."

He continued, noting that the Internet has emerged as a leading source of information: "Half of it is online now. Now you’ve got the Gawkers, the BuzzFeeds. The way people are drawing their news is soundbites and headlines and click-bait links has changed everything. The biggest challenge is going to be an exciting one, I’m sure, is how are we going to bring all of that together looking at it from a bigger lens as opposed to just going after one source — which was historically Fox News."

Noah also touched on future content, saying he'll be examining the same issues, just through a different lens: “We’re still dealing with the same issues, it’s just a different angle we’re looking at things from — and it’s my angle, really. I’m taking things in a slightly different direction, but to the same endpoint.”

Noting the differences between himself and his predecessor (Noah described himself as a 31-year-old half-white, half-black man from South Africa, while Jon Stewart is a 52-year-old Jewish man from New Jersey), he said, "The way we look at the same story will be completely different. We have different access to different jokes, different sides, different sensitivities...the most important thing is the place that you come from.”

Stewart gave Noah a ringing endorsement after a series of offensive tweets from Noah's social media past circulated online a few months ago, upsetting a large number of Daily Show supporters. "I do hope you give him an opportunity to earn that trust and respect because my experience with him is that he is an incredibly thoughtful, considerate, funny and smart individual," Stewart said.

How do you feel about the possible changes? Are you entirely averse to them? Do you hate change? Are you still mad at Stewart for leaving? Do you have abandonment issues? Let's keep this conversation going!
