My travels through the depths of IMDB.com lead me to the discovery that Michael Rosenbaum isn't the only successful actor to come out of the Tri-State area.

It's pretty typical for me to have my phone or iPad next to me when I'm watching TV in the evening, which comes in handy for looking up an actor or actress that I know I've seen somewhere before, but just can't figure out where, which is exactly what happened one night when I saw a commercial for the new Disney movie, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Based on the kids book of the same name, the movie stars Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as the parents of Alexander who obviously has a rough day.

But there's one actor in the trailer that jumped out to me more than the other's, and that was Dylan Minnette. I knew I recognized him from another show, but just couldn't figure out which one. I fired up the trusty ol' IMDB app on my phone, and realized he played the son on a short-lived show I watched on NBC called Awake. I checked out the "Trivia" section of his profile and saw that he was born right here in Evansville on December 12th, 1996. Being someone who has learned not to take anything on the internet at face value, I checked another source only to find the same thing.

What I couldn't find out is how long he lived here. The IMDB trivia section says his family relocated to Champaign, Illinois where they lived for five years before moving again to Los Angeles so Dylan could pursue his acting career.

His bio on DylanMinnette.com says he landed his first major television role at the age of eight playing a younger version of Charlie Sheen's character on an episode of Two and a Half Men, which leads me to believe the family left Evansville when Dylan was very young.

Regardless of how long he was here, and whether or not he acknowledges Evansville as his hometown (my guess is that he doesn't), I think it's pretty cool that we have ties to another actor gaining recognition on the national stage.
