On November 18th, 2018 at 12pm Noon The Salvation Army invites all those in need of food, shelter and a sense of family to join them for a meal at 1040 Fulton Avenue. The people that come year after year anxiously await the food, friendship and fellowship that The Salvation Army provides each year. Some of the people that come to The Salvation Army lunch no longer have a family they can eat Thanksgiving with. The Salvation Army has become a family and all those involved have provided hope and love to those who share this special day.

Last year on Thanksgiving the local Salvation Army provided over 400 meals to those in need. “It is important we are there for our community at a time when they are in need. We feel fortunate for our community donors that have made it possible for us to feed so many. Our numbers of those needing served are in great demand making it imperative that the community comes together not just at Thanksgiving, rather the entire year to help slow this epidemic,” explained Major Mark Turner. To prepare for Thanksgiving The Salvation Army accepts monetary and non-perishable food donations year-round. The Salvation Army always welcomes volunteers to make their Thanksgiving offering a success.

I had the opportunity to meet Major Mark Turner earlier this year, and his love for serving the community is inspiring. Every volunteer has a passion to help. If you would like to help the Salvation Army, please call 812-422-4673.
