Fall Fest is in full swing.  With it comes people's bizarre pride in eating the most disgusting "food" invented, and I use the word "food" very loosely.  I'm not eating brain-sandwiches.  I'm not eating deep-fried butter.  I'm not deep-frying kool-aide.  I'm not eating bugs or testicles or anything like that.  But I enjoy "fair food" as much as anybody!  If you're not intrigued by the deep-fried randomness, or if you're from out of town and just don't understand how a brain sandwich even exists, here are some survival tips for how to eat during the Fall Festival.  All of the items can be found within 50 yards of 11th & Franklin.

* I start my Fall Fest experience the same way every time, with some loaded nachos and Muddy Pigs.  They come from the same booth (I don't pay attention to who owns any booths I frequent).  The loaded nachos come with ground beef, sour cream, jalapenos and black olives, a recipe for success.

*The Muddy Pigs are easily as adventurous as I get.  They're strips of bacon covered in chocolate, and they're only $1.  I was hesitant to try this initially, but now they're a staple for my Fall Fest experience!

*Now's the time I choose to wash all of that down with a root beer float.  You can't go wrong with a root beer float, and beginning last year they've moved them even CLOSER to where we're stationed at 11th & Franklin!

*Once that settles, two booths down from that they sell small slices of pizza for $2.  While the pizza is far too small for $2, it's tasty and hits the spot.  I'll tell you, pizza never looks better than in a sea of Hoosiers literally eating brains.  Oh, I get three of these.

*If I still have room, which I usually do, I grab some loaded potato soup from a booth literally right next door to where we're stationed.  It's a good way to wrap things up.

*Right before we leave I pick up a container of apple cider, too.  I hate that it's a modest amount for $4, but I consider this cider the taste of Fall Fest.  I take it with me so that the Fall Fest lingers with me a little, even after I've left.
