The Rob’s 11 Can’t Miss Songs of 2011
Music is my passion, and as we enter the new year and look forward to upcoming releases from artists like Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and T.I., I have put together a list of what I feel are the 11 best songs that KISS-FM played in '11, as well as a short description of why I like it. This is just my personal preference, but feel free to agree/disagree/argue in the comments.
THE ROB'S 11 CAN'T MISS SONGS OF '11:
11.) Look at Me Now - Chris Brown feat. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne (Busta goes so hard, but the dynamic frenetic pacing of the whole record is obviously three of rap's best just showing off)
10.) Roll Up - Wiz Khalifa (I enjoyed the mainstream approach from one of hip-hop's future legends)
9.) Paris - Jay-z & Kanye West (I honestly never thought a record like this would have made it to mainstream radio, but I'm glad it did, because it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before. A completely unique record.)
8.) Someone Like You - Adele (Probably the vest vocal performance of the year)
7.) Without You - David Guetta feat. Usher (I love the juxtaposition between the depressing lyrics and the uptempo fist-pumping beat.)
6.) Not Over You - Gavin DeGraw (While I'll admit it's not the manliest record to listen to over and over again the way I have, I found to be it to be a fun and relatable record that I really enjoy.)
5.) She Ain't You - Chris Brown (While I can't tell if it's a love song or not, I can't get enough of the "Human Nature" sample from Michael Jackson.)
4.) Black & Yellow - Wiz Khalifa (The song technically came out in 2010, but become a smash in 2011. It put this talented Pennsylvania native on the map, and became synonomous with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the biggest day in sports.)
3.) Skyscraper - Demi Lovato (This song should have been much more successful. Demi poured her heart into this record and I think her vocals rival that of Adele on this track... Yes, seriously. It's a very powerful track that I still listen to very often, she really kills it on this record.)
2.) The Show Goes on - Lupe Fiasco (This song sums up everything I like about Lupe... It's fun and uplifting. It's powerful and intelligent. It's thought-provoking and dance-able. Also, I love the "Float on" sampled throughout the record.)
1.) Super Bass - Nicki Minaj (I love everything about this song, and I think it's the best song that came out last year. Enjoy the video below)
