This weekend, I got a chance to get out and see Sausage Party!  Sausage Party is the VERY adult, R-rated animated comedy from the mind of admitted pothead Seth Rogan and friends.  As a lover of both blue humor and animation, I have been excited to see this movie for over a year now since I first heard about it, long before any trailers were released.

I'd give Sausage Party a C+.  It was a very funny movie, a unique experience unlike many other movies out there.  I know there are other R-rated animated movies out there, but seeing one with a production value closer to that of a Pixar blockbuster as opposed to a South Park or Adult Swim, is definitely a little jarring at first.  Seeing these cute little animated food items swear with such vulgar crudeness is funny in and of itself, although does get a little stale (so to speak).

I guess my biggest complaint about Sausage Party is that it tries really hard to be funny and offensive.  I may have eaten this up 15 years ago, but something about felt a little desperate to me.  Now, often times when they try, it is funny.  Other times, though, just felt like overkill.

The story is written decently, although I do feel like between the trailers I've seen and interviews I've heard Seth Rogan do, SO MANY jokes and plot-points were spoiled for me in advance.  I don't want to come off like a hater, I liked the movie, I just didn't love it and for some reason expected a little better.
