The Public Education Foundation of Evansville Invites You to Thank a Teacher!
Beginning April 15 through May 9, the Public Education Foundation of Evansville, Inc., will offer its spring Thank a-Teacher program. New this year is an effort to encourage persons to Salute-A-Staffer, as well. Staff members doing work as diverse at driving buses, assisting with special education, social work, serving food or running the media centers make a crucial difference in many students; school year, too.
For a small donation to the PEF, parents, guardians, grandparents and more can order a card for the honoree. The school principal will also be notified, and each honored teacher and staff member will be recognized at a Board of School Trustees meeting in June 2014.
Proceeds from the program fund local Excellence in Education grants, provided by PEF to teachers and schools each fall. On average, annually PEF awards $10,000 in Excellence in Education grants to 15-18 teachers and schools affecting more than 2,100 students each year.
“Excellence in Education grants are fast-tracked and simple to complete. They are designed to encourage innovation and experimentation in the classroom,” said PEF Executive Director Amy Walker. “PEF reviews, vets and supervises the grants, but it is still a very easy application process. And the grants are largely made possible by the Thank-A-Teacher Program.” And don’t forget Salute-A-Staffer in 2014.
Persons wishing to participate can access the Thank-A-Teacher and Salute-A-Staffer form at www.pefevansville.org or can send an e-mail request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Donation amounts are confidential. The thank you card will be sent to designated recipients within one week of receipt of donation.
