One of my favorite events of the year is taking place on May 20th and 21st: the MayDay Film Festival! MayDay was the first local film festival in the tri-state, started back in 2009 by the USI Filmmakers Club. The event has gotten bigger and bigger each year and this year looks to be its biggest yet.

One of my favorite parts of MayDay is seeing all of the films that were made locally. That is where you come in: if you have a film that you would like to submit, they are taking submissions until Saturday, April 23rd! You can submit at the official MayDay site.

There are rules and regulations when submitting so make sure you read those (ie: don't submit your sex tape). This year, the MayDay Film Festival will once again be taking place at ShowPlace South in Evansville. For an event that started out in a classroom at USI, the growth and support of the community have helped MayDay become the biggest celebration of local film! You can also keep up to date with all of the latest MayDay news on their Facebook page!

Grab your popcorn and I'll see you on May 20th!
