Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus + More Are 2012’s Most Charitable Celebs
Celebs, by virtue of their gigs, have tons of fame and fortune, but many of them never forget to show their support of the less fortunate. DoSomething.Org has named its Top 20 list of Celebs Gone Good for 2012, with Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus topping the list of the most charitable celebs. Fellow pop stars like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Pink and more were also recognized.
Swift landed at No. 1 on the list. She is continuously generous, even donating $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame. In the past, she also donated books to the library in her Pennsylvania hometown — no, she’s not actually originally from Nashville, as some think. We also can’t snooze on the fact that she invited a cancer-stricken fan to be her date to an awards gala when she couldn’t make his prom!
Cyrus, who recently downplayed any “tweet heat” tiff between herself and America’s Sweetheart Swift, landed right behind her on the list. The notorious animal lover has raised awareness for rescues and advocates the adoption of shelter pets from high-kill facilities. She also supports VH1’s Save the Music Foundation, Make-A-Wish and the Starkey Hearing Foundation, as well.
Gaga launched her Born This Way Foundation earlier this year, which is aimed at providing support to at-risk youth and helping to raise self-esteem among young people. The Biebs continues his work with Pencils of Promise, and always makes time in his cray cray schedule to visit sick fans in the hospital.
Pink, like Miss Miley, also advocates animal rights issues.
The full list of Celebs Gone Good is below. Notice Drew Brees on that list. While sports fans know him as the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, Directioners know him as a member of 1DB, aka another incarnation of One Direction. We had to point that out.
