Taylor Swift Cancels Thailand Concert
Taylor Swift will not be performing her upcoming June 9 concert in Bangkok due to a military coup in Thailand.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, local concert organizer BEC-Tero Entertainment released a statement saying it was canceling show in Bangkok “due to recent events.” (Quotes via The Hollywood Reporter.) The coup, which was 12th successful military takeover in the country’s history, occurred last Thursday (May 22).
According to the announcement, “this has been a difficult decision for all parties” and Taylor expressed “regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand.”
The ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ singer took to Twitter to address the cancellation, sending her thoughts to Thailand:
I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being canceled.

It would have been Taylor’s first time performing in Thailand. Other pop music superstars, such as Justin Bieber and Avril Lavigne, have played shows in the country. However, after a spike of violence in Bangkok earlier this year, Eric Clapton canceled his February show there.
