Take a Look at Kat’s Dream Home in Evansville [PHOTOS]
I saw this house for the first time on a walk downtown, and I have been completely infatuated with it ever since.
The house located at 706 SE First Street, was for sale the first time I saw it back in early 2011. It is still on the market today, albeit a slightly lesser asking price that is still far outside of my budget, but it is also now available to lease as well through F A Properties. With it’s very French Gothic facade and English-style tea garden on the south side of the house, this home has absolutely everything that I love! It has character and charm. It’s spacious beyond reason with nearly 7,000 square feet – enough room that I really could be the crazy cat lady! It also boasts 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 2 sun-rooms, and 5 fireplaces. The home has original hard wood floors and original woodwork and trim, along with an updated modern kitchen. One of my favorite parts of the house are the built in book cases and ladder.
According to HistoricEvansville.com, the home was built in the 1850’s and remodeled in the the 1870’s. It really does appear as though most of the home has been preserved in it’s original glory. Maybe one day I will win the lottery and then I can own this home. I will need at least 10 more cats, though. I’m sure my husband, Mike won’t mind. After all, he can have the entire third floor to himself! I wonder if there are any secret passages…
There is a video slideshow featuring additional photographs and details of the home.
