Matt Eckert Named New President off Holiday World and Splashin' Safari

Matt Eckert, who has been at Holiday World and Splashin' Safari since 2000, was named as the new president of the iconic park in Santa Claus, Indiana. The park has been owned and operated by the Koch family since it opened on August 3, 1946 as Santa Claus Land and has grown to be one of the top amusement and waterparks in the country. Holiday World is also home to The Voyage roller coaster, which as of last year, was the number one rated wooden roller coaster in the world. The park is also home to the The Legend and The Raven roller coasters.

May 5th marks the opening of the 2012 season at Holiday World followed by the opening of Splashin' Safari the following Saturday, May 12th. After debuting their first ever water coaster, The Wildebeest in 2010 to rave reviews including being voted the number one water park ride on the planet by Amusement Today magazine in 2010 and 2011, Holiday World and Splashin' Safari decided 2012 was the right time to kick it up a level by debuting The Mammoth.

One of the leading travel websites on the planet, tripadvisor.com, has named Holiday World's Splashin' Safari as the #1 water park in the United States. Of course those of us that live here in the area already thought that, now it's official.

The gem of Santa Claus, IN beat out water parks in much larger cities such as Typhoon Lagoon and Aquatica in Orlando, Florida as well as Water Country USA in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The Wildebeest will no longer be the worlds longest water coaster. According to the Courier Press, Holiday World announced last week their new addition to the Splashin' Safari park, The Mammoth. The new water coaster will be 1,763 feet, 50 feet longer than the Wildebeest. The Mammoth will cover 3 acres, and will be located right next to the Wildebeest.
