The 2012 regular season is in the books, and it's time to move into the post-season tournament where it's win or go home.

Two teams out to prove they're the best of the west (side) meet under the lights this Friday night at the Reitz Bowl.

All eyes will be on Newburgh Friday night as the two only unbeaten teams in the SIAC square off to determine who will ultimately win 2012 conference title.

In order to get their first official win of the season, the Bosse Bulldogs will have to bring their best effort against the undefeated Mater Dei Wildcats.

It's the north side versus the west side under the lights Friday night.

An old rivalry will be renewed under the lights at the Reitz Bowl.

The best time of the year (in my opinion) is upon us.

The 2011 - 2012 school year has been a good one for Mater Dei sports. In November the football team played their way to the state title game at Lucas Oil Stadium, coming up short in their quest for state title in a loss to powerhouse, Fort Wayne Bishop-Luers. Then the girls basketball team made the trek up Highway 41 in February to bring home a state title against the aforementioned Bishop-Luers.

It's been a good several months for my alma mater, Mater Dei. From a 2nd place finish in the state football game back in November to a title win in the girls basketball state championship last month, the current student body at Mater Dei has given we alumni a lot to be proud of. That pride extends outside the world of sports with the recent 1st place wins posted by the Mater Dei Super-Mileage team

It's a proud day for Mater Dei grads like myself as the girls basketball team have won the state title!

After an impressive second half which saw them erase a 16-7 halftime deficit to win 27-16, the Mater Dei Wildcats football team is heading back to the Class 2A state title game for the first time since 2001.
