Five Reasons Marijuana Should Remain Illegal – Ryan O’Bryan’s List – Reason Three

#3 - Weed Can Make You Crazy

The whole draw to smoking pot is the feeling of getting high. THC relaxes muscles and alters brain receptors to create a euphoric feeling. It's also well documented that weed can heighten emotions which can cause some users to feel paranoid or anxious, hallucinate, and even convince them that Phish and the Grateful Dead are great bands

Five Reasons Marijuana Should be Legal – Ryan O’Bryan’s List – Reason One

#1 - Regulated Marijuana = Better Quality Marijuana

Say what you will about the government needing to have their hands in everything, but I truly believe that if marijuana fell under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration or some other government body, not only will it open up a new revenue stream for the economy, it will result in better quality bud

#3 - Weed Makes People Happy and Less Violent

Name one time you've seen two people high on pot in a fist-fight over something stupid. You can't. Because it doesn't happen.

I have no scientific evidence to back this up, but I don't need it

#5 - A Lower Crime Rate

Overcrowding has been a problem in our nation's prisons for some time now and I think much of that has to do with the amount of marijuana related arrests. The most recent data av

#2 - Weed Can Make You Sick

Let me start by clarifying that I when I say sick, I don't mean it can give you a headache or a belly ache. I mean it can make you literally ill which I find ironic as most of the debate around the benefits of little ganja centers around its medicinal properties.

Studies show that chemicals in marijuana cause the body to kick its production of m

Five Reasons Marijuana Should Remain Illegal – Ryan O’Bryan’s List

As the saying goes, "there's two sides to every story". In this world of 24-hour news channels, those with the loudest voices and most polarizing positions seem to get the most recognition regardless of whether or not they have their facts straight. And like sheep following the shepherd, people buy into the opinion because they're too lazy to read up on the issue themselves. In the interest of fairness, and to educate myself on the issue, I did some research on why weed should stay illegal.

Remove Warts With Duct Tape and Other Wacky Home Remedies

Every Sunday morning when I sit in my recliner with a cup of coffee and read the newspaper like an 80-year old man, one of my favorite columns to read is the syndicated "The People's Pharmacy". If you're not familiar with the concept, the newspaper is a daily publication that reports on events locally, nationally, and world-wide that is delivered right to your doorstep every morning for a monthly fee, but I digress.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Giving a day of commemoration to one of the world's most instrumental civil rights leaders whose peaceful words and deeds contributed to a whole new understanding of equality and brotherhood seems like a no-brainer. Martin Luther King Day's history, however, was fraught with controversy and took years just to get on the federal government's official calendars.

The Nastiest Humbugs in Holiday History

We have a saying in my house, “Who ruined Chrimmus?” because when I was a child someone would inevitably knock over the Christmas tree, break an heirloom or a fight would ensue. At least our antics were not intentional – unlike the list of miserly characters I am about to introduce. All of these charac

Things You Will Never Hear Me Say – Ryan’s List

In an effort to open myself up a bit and allow you to get to know me better, I've decided to compile a list of things you'll never hear me say. Sure, I could go the easy route and give you a bio about how I was born and raised on the West Side, graduated from Mater Dei in 1995 and USI in 2001, or how I'm happily married with two great kids, but what fun is that?

Instead, I thought I'd throw out some random comments and let you infer from them what you will. So here you go, a few things you'll never hear me say:

Evansville-Area Residents Who Have ‘Made it Big’ – Ryan’s List

Years ago, my wife and I were at the Hard Rock restaurant in Orlando, FL and while waiting for a table, we ordered a drink at the bar. The bartender did his job and asked for ID. However when he saw our Indiana driver's licenses, he asked, "Did you guys ride your tractors down here?" Since we were in Florida, I wanted to reply with, "Are you here legally?" But I didn't, I bit my tongue and drank my beer.

Being an Evansville resident since the day I was born (West Side! Represent!), I know the stigma placed on us by the rest of the nation based solely on our location on Earth (which we obviously have no control over).
