For the first time in the history of the franchise, EA Sports will give hockey-loving gamers the chance to work their way up from the ranks of the minor leagues all the way to "The Show" thanks to the inclusion of all 27 ECHL teams in their upcoming NHL 17 game. However, it appears one team of local interest isn't one of them.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke held a press conference Monday afternoon to announce the City had come to an agreement with the North Carolina-based Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) that will keep hockey at the Ford Center for the foreseeable future.

Hours after a press conference that involved both Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne, and Evansville IceMen owner Ron Geary stating the team would be relocating to the Owensboro Sportcenter, the team posts a message on Facebook that seems to call that announcement into question.

On Tuesday, Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne was given authorization by the City Commissioners to bring the IceMen to the Sportscenter. Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke commented on the move through his Twitter account and during conversations with the media following the press conference announcing the team's move.
