August 31, 2011 I would think that if you ("you" being MTV) held an artist in high enough regard that you felt they deserved a lifetime acheivement award, said award would come with a equally worthy tribute. Apparently, I am wrong. If missed it Sunday night, MTV awarded Britney Spears the Michael Jackson Video Vangard Award, essentially their version of a lifetime acheivement award. When other awards shows award such a prestigious award to one person, it is usually accompanied by a tribute of some kind; a performance by the awardee's peers, a video montage...something! These also usually last somewhere in the neighborhood of 5+ minutes. I guess in this age of instant gratification and short attention spans, MTV felt that 90 seconds was a sufficient amount of time to reflect on a lifetime of work.
August 19, 2011 As I have often admitted, I am a sucker for countdowns and lists. Here's another from Rolling Stone, a list readers voted on as the worst cover songs of all-time. Overall I think this list is very good, all of these songs suck. I know people who actually like some of the songs on the list, or at least did when they came out, and I feel like I have always had to defend these songs as terrible pieces of rehashed garbage. I'm sorry but anybody who thinks Limp Bizkit's version of "Behind Blue Eyes" is better than the Who's, or Alien Ant Farm's version of "Smooth Criminal" is better than Michael Jackson's is just wrong. Turns out, like so many other times, I was wrong.
June 14, 2011 Thanks to a few sharp ears in attendance at a recent dress rehearsal, we now know which songs are in the set list for Britney Spears' upcoming Femme Fatale tour - and we can tell you that concertgoers will be treated to more than 20 tracks worth of hits, covers and material from her latest album.
The set, which opens with newer material such as 'Hold It Against Me' and '3,' also makes room for a pair of cuts from the deluxe edition of 'Femme Fatale' ('He About to Lose Me' and 'Up N' Down'), as well as Britney's version of Rihanna's 'S&M' (which featured Spears on the remix) and a cover of Madonna's 'Burning Up.'
April 25, 2011 Britney Spears has reportedly set a strict diet routine for her upcoming 'Femme Fatale' tour.
According to the Sun, Britney has blacklisted junk food from the tour, banning such items as hot dogs, pizza and cookie dough ice cream.
