The Indianapolis Colts officially have their next franchise quarterback.
The new era of Indianapolis Colts football began with a few simple words from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "With the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select...Andrew Luck, quarterback, Stanford." And so it begins Colts fans.
Despite the fact team officials would neither confirm nor deny the report, according to ESPN, "a league source" says the Colts have already informed former Standford quarterback, Andrew Luck, that he will be their choice as the first overall pick in the draft when it begins next Thursday.
While team officials haven't commented, a story from Profootballtalk.com today says that Colts owner Jim Irsay has "essentially confirmed" the report

I'm not going to lie, it makes me a little nauseous just writing the headline, but after giving it some thought, I've come to the realization that if there ever was a time for the Colts to move on from the man who made them relevant, that time is now. It's a thought I'm OK with that and one I think other Colts fans should be OK with as well.
When the news came down that Peyton Manning would miss a majority of, if not the entire 2011 season after two neck surgeries, Colts fans everywhere, including me, let out a collective "Uh-oh." But I do think there were a number of us, again, myself included, that held out hope that the rest of the team would rise up and meet the challenge to prove that one man does not a team make. Then 0-7 came along.
