I've only been ice skating twice. Once with my wife shortly after we started dating and once with our kids earlier this year. Both trips included a lot of falling down, running into walls, and sobbing. The kids had a good time though (HEY OH!). Fortunately, Swonder is giving people like me the chance to get back on the horse so-to-speak by offering a free skating lesson during National Skating Month in January.

According to a press release from Assistant Manager, Danielle Cook, Swonder will offer free skating lessons to beginning skaters from 12-2pm on Saturday, January 28th. Skaters who participate in the lessons will have the chance to show off they're new skills will free admission to the public skate that same day from 1-3:30pm. If you'd like to participate, all you have to do is show up. There's no preregistration necessary.

If you haven't been to Swonder since it received it's face lift a few years ago, I encourage you to take a trip down there and see one of the nicer indoor facilities our city has to offer. You don't even have to enjoy ice skating to enjoy the facility. As a matter of fact, you can visit Swonder and never step foot on ice (unless someone spills a drink on the floor).

Outside of their two ice rinks, Swonder also offers a fantastic fitness facility along with an indoor skate park for those who prefer their skates with boards and wheels. You can find out more on their website.
