See what I did there? I used the word "Mater" in two different ways. Pretty clever, huh? Thanks. Anywho...while I was on vacation last week, a few of the students from my Alma Mater were featured on Good Morning America for winning the Shell Fuels annual Eco-Marathon.

Seniors Trevor Fleck and Evan Vibbert, Sophmore Joe Ritter, along with team advisor Dan Ritter won last year's annual Eco-Marathon for the 2nd time in a row with a car that got 437.2 miles to the gallon. This year's event will take place April 14-17 in Houston, TX. As you'll see in the video, this particular vehicle isn't your normal "grocery-getter", but that's not the point of the competition. The point is to create an engine and fuel system that could someday be used in everyday vehicles like yours and mine. Which would have come in handy when I was at Mater Dei and burning up my mom's gas cruising Green River Road every Friday and Saturday night. Imagine how many laps I could have made if I were getting over 437 miles to the gallon!

Take a look at the video and find out more about this group of students with this article from the Evansville Courier and Press.

And by the way, nice job gentlemen!
