To my knowledge, the Evansville Otters have never had a male, or anyone over the age of 20 for that matter, serve on the Otterbelle Dance Squad in the 20-plus history of the team, which is why I took it upon myself to make an attempt at breaking the gender barrier during tryouts last Wednesday at Bosse Field.

The Otterbelles are the group of (usually) young ladies that take the field in between innings to perform a dance routine for the crowd, or help out with the short games select fans take part in on the field.

Typically the Otters look for individuals with some dance experience, of which I have none. However, I didn't let that stop me from trying to make history.
